PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Marist men's tennis team finished a very successful opening weekend to the fall schedule as four Red Foxes won singles' championships Sunday at the Brown Invitational.
A day after the pairing of Trym Nagelstad (Oslo, Norway) and Will Reznek (Toronto, Canada) won a doubles' flight championship, Joseph Dube (Livonia, Mich.), Lorenzo Rossi (Lugano, Switzerland), Billy Bishop (Houston, Texas) and Matteo Giudici (Parma, Italy) all took home individual titles. Dube defeated his Brown opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to win the Yellow Flight. In the Green Flight, Rossi was also victorious over a member of the host school, winning by a score of 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. For the second straight day, Bishop had to come from behind after dropping the first set, beating his adversary from Bryant 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 to take the White Flight. Giudici had no trouble in beating his opponent from Boston University 6-3, 6-0 to capture the Purple Flight.
In other action, Reznek won his Red Flight consolation final match against his foe from Brown by a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) score. Dalen Klassen (St. Louis, Mo.) also won the back-draw finals in the Orange Flight over his UConn opponent, 6-2, 6-1.
