POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's soccer team was ranked eighth in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's Northeast Poll. The Red Foxes made the jump into the regional poll after going 3-1 over the past week against some of the of the region's stiffest competition.
Marist (5-2) began a stretch of four games in eight days with a 1-0 victory at Fordham. They then fell 3-1 defeat in a midweek matchup at Big East foe UConn, who are ranked fourth in the regional poll as well as 22nd in the national Top Drawer Soccer poll. The Red Foxes bounced back on Friday with a shutout win at Penn, 2-0, before returning home and defeating Hofstra by a 4-2 score.
The Red Foxes were the only team from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in the top 10 of the poll. In last season's run to its first-ever MAAC Championship, their first season under Head Coach Katherine Lyn, Marist did not make an appearance in the NSCAA poll.
The Team will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 14 at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
