POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Jared Jordan, who starred for the Marist men's basketball team from 2003-07, has returned home after another successful playing season overseas.
Jordan played for Telekom Baskets Bonn in Germany. He averaged 10.7 points, 8.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds while shooting .503 from the field, .384 from three-point range and .814 from the free-throw line in 36 German League games. He also averaged 10.6 points, 8.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds while shooting .565 from the field and .361 from deep in 12 EuroChallenge contests.
The team finished with a record of 18-15 in the German League regular season, good for eighth out of 18 teams, before falling to two-time defending champion Brose Baskets in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. Telekom Baskets won the first game on the road in the best-of-five series on the road - marking the first loss for Brose Baskets at home in the last two seasons - before dropping the next three.
Jordan, who had signed a two-year contract with Telekom Baskets Bonn prior to this season, will be returning to the team for the 2012-13 season.
"This past season in Bonn was one of my favorite seasons playing basketball since I left Marist," Jordan said. "Overall we had a very successful season as a team, and playing in Bonn reminds me of my days in college. I am very fortunate to have a great coach, teammates and fans who support the team no matter what. Living in Bonn is great and having the opportunity to travel around and see Europe is something I am very lucky to do. I am excited to be going back to Bonn for another season and hope to build on the success we had this past season."
In 2007, following a season in which he was named MAAC Player of the Year and led Marist to its first postseason victory in program history, Jordan was selected 45th overall in the NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. He was just the second player in program history, following former NBA All-Star Rik Smits, to be drafted. Jordan has appeared in NBA training camps for the New York Knicks and New Orleans Hornets, and has been on the summer league teams of the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors.
His overseas experience consists of time with Lietuvos Rytas in Lithuania (2007-08), Colossus Rhodes in Greece (2010-11) in addition to a previous stint with Telekom Baskets (2009-10). He also played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Developmental League in the 2008-09 season.
