POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In the final home match of the 2012 spring season, the Marist women's tennis team fell to a strong Fordham squad, who came to Poughkeepsie with a 15-5 record. After honoring its senior class of 2012 in a pregame ceremony, the Red Foxes were defeated by the Rams 7-0.

The number one singles pairing of senior Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.) and junior Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) were victorious in their matchup. McCarthy and Raynor improved to 11-2 on the season with their 8-5 decision over Fordham's duo of Simidian and Dabu.

In number two singles action, McCarthy fought back to tie Sarah Ali at 1-1 before eventually falling in the third set tie-breaker. The final score for the match was 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in Ali's favor.

Prior to the match, seniors Erin McCarthy and Kayla O'Donovan (Lynbrook, N.Y.) were recognized for their four years of competing on the court for the Red Foxes. Together the duo earned five All-MAAC postseason awards and helped Marist to its third-ever MAAC Championship in 2011.

The Red Foxes (6-7, 2-2 MAAC) will get back into conference action on Sunday, April 15 when they take on Loyola on the road in Baltimore in a 10 a.m. match.
