EDISON, N.J. - Marist men's tennis sophomore Lorenzo Rossi (Lugano, Switzerland) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week on Tuesday. It is the second consecutive week that Rossi has took home the honor and third time in his career as he also took home Player of the Week honors last April in his freshman campaign.
Rossi was pivotal in Marist's comeback win last week over Fairfield, as the Red Foxes took the first four points at singles after the Stags took the doubles point. The sophomore came back from an early 4-1 deficit in the first set against Fairfield's top player at the first singles position to win the decisive fourth point, 6-4, 6-2.
It is the fourth weekly award by a Red Fox this season. Besides his win last week, Rossi is joined teammates Will Reznek (Toronto, Canada) and Matt Himmelsbach (Longmeadow, Mass.) who earned their honors earlier this year.
The Red Foxes are back on the court on Wednesday when they travel to Hartford for a non-conference match beginning at 3 p.m.
