POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Freshman Tessa Lewis (Lewiston, N.Y.) came back to win the final singles' match of the day at the sixth spot and the Marist women's tennis team defeated Niagara 4-3 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) match on Saturday. The game was played indoors at the Dutchess Racquet Club due to inclement weather.

After dropping the first set 6-4, Lewis came back to beat her opponent in the next two sets 6-1 and 6-3 to win the match for the Red Foxes (6-4, 2-0 MAAC).

Joana Sun (Gales Ferry, Conn.) and Kayla O'Donovan (Lynbrook, N.Y.) also won their respective singles matches, at the third and fifth spots.

The duos of Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) and Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.) and Lewis and O'Donovan won their doubles' matches to give Marist the point.

The Red Foxes continue MAAC play with a home match versus Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. It is a rematch of the 2011 MAAC Championship where Marist upset the top-seeded Stags 4-3.
