POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Rising senior kicker Jason Myers (Chula Vista, Calif.) of the Marist football team has been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Placekicker Award Watch List for the 2012 season.
Myers has been the Red Foxes' primary placekicker each of the last three seasons. He was named Honorable Mention All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) in 2010 and 2011, and earned the PFL Special Teams Player of the Week honor on Nov. 8, 2009, a day after kicking a game-winning 37-yard field goal against Georgetown with one second left.
Last season, Myers was 6-for-7 on field-goal attempts, and 23-for-25 on extra-point tries. He kicked a school-record 49-yard field goal at Davidson on Oct. 8. He has led the PFL in touchbacks each of the last two seasons, with 13 in 2011 and 12 in 2010. Myers has tallied 125 points in his career.
The Marist football team opens its 2012 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Bryant. The Red Foxes will begin their five-game home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 8 against Bucknell. The team is in its fourth season as a member of the PFL, and will open league play on Saturday, Sept. 22 against Davidson, which will take place on Alumni Weekend.
