Fairfield opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with back-to-back one out singles, followed by a two RBI double and an RBI fielder's choice.

The Red Foxes answered in the top of the fourth when Gregoire led off with a single and two batters later Kapuscinski singled to set up men on first and second. Rouse followed with an RBI double down the left field line that scored Gregoire and Pagano knocked home Kapuscinski with an RBI ground out to trim the deficit to 3-2.

One inning later, Marist took the lead when Lightner led off with a single and Kirkpatrick advanced him to second with a sac bunt. Taveras followed with a single that set up men on first and third and following a Stags pitching change, Gregoire tied the game with an RBI single to right field. Two batters later, Kapuscinski was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Rouse followed with an RBI walk to give the Red Foxes the 4-3 lead.

The score remained the same and Fairfield came to bat in the bottom of the ninth for its last chance to tie. Thomas retired the first two batters but then surrendered back-to-back-to-back singles, with the last scoring the tying run from third to send the game into extras.

One inning later, the Stags walked off with the win on a leadoff single and sacrifice bunt, before Bunting replaced Thomas on the mound. A wild pitch advanced the runner to third and Bunting intentionally walked the next two batters to set up a force play at any base but Fairfield followed with an RBI single to left that scored the winning run.

Up next, the Red Foxes wrap up the 2017 regular season with a three game series at McCann Field vs the Siena Saints. The two teams will play a nine inning single game on Thursday (3:30 PM), before wrapping up the series with a seven inning and nine inning doubleheader on Friday (12 PM). Prior to Friday's games, Marist's five seniors Tyler Kirkpatrick, Ryan Thomas, John Parisi, Scott Boches and Sean Keenan will be honored with a senior day ceremony at approximately 11:40 AM.
