On the mound, redshirt junior Scott Boches picked up his fifth loss of the year, throwing six innings of five hit and three run ball to go along with two walks and three strikeouts.

The Red Foxes opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Kocinski led off with a single up the middle and Taveras was hit by a pitch. Kirkpatrick followed with a bunt single and during the next at bat, a wild pitch from the Rider pitcher allowed Kocinski to score from third for the 1-0 lead.

Three innings later, the Broncs got on the board with back-to-back singles from Kyle Johnson and Riley Mihalik. After a sac bunt set up men on second and third with one out, Tyler Kaiser hit a three run home run over the right center field fence to give Rider the 3-1 lead.

Marist had several chances to score in the bottom of the seventh and eighth but were unable to get the final hit that scored a run.

Down to their last at bat, the Red Foxes looked to rally but went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth and the Broncs emerged with the 3-1 win.

Up next, Marist has a week off from games for final exams before their final MAAC road series of the season when they travel to Fairfield for a doubleheader on Saturday (12 PM).
