VESTAL, New York – The Marist women’s tennis team dropped tight match to the Binghamton Bearcats Friday evening at the Binghamton Tennis Center. The Red Foxes are now 3-3 in non-conference play to start the spring season.

In a hotly contested doubles match that came down to the no. 1 doubles position, the Red Foxes lost out on the point after falling in third and first doubles. Binghamton’s Olga Ostrovesky and Paulina Tafler defeated Marist’s Chloe Lant and Sophia Moeller, 6-3.

Claire Schmitz and Callie Morlock bounced back and put the Red Foxes on the board after defeating the Bearcats’ Rebecca Dellaway and Allison Roma, 6-4.

The doubles’ point was decided when Annie DiMuro and Samara Eisenber defeated Amy Galloway and Ariel Shulman in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-4).

The Bearcats got off to a good start in singles play, carrying the momentum from doubles. DiMuro put Binghamton ahead 2-0 after defeating Lant, 6-4, 6-1. Ostrovesky then defeated Morlock in straight sets, and Roma clinched the match for Binghamton defeating Brozovich, 6-4, 6-2.

The Red Foxes put points on the board with wins from Moeller and Schmitz.

The Red Foxes will conclude their road trip when they head to West Long Branch, New Jersey to take on Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent Monmouth.  First set is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
