ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – Junior Megan Berardelli and sophomore Lauren Katz had top three finishes to help the Marist women’s swimming and diving team move into fourth place after the first day at the 2017 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on March 3.

Marist sits five points behind third place Bucknell (135 points) while Penn (160 points) and host Navy (198 points) own the top two spots out of the 18 schools.

Berardelli was crowned the ECAC champion on the 3-meter board for the second straight year with 278.00 points. Katz placed third, her highest career postseason finish, with 244.45 points. Marist has now had either a male or female diver take first place at each of the last five ECAC title meets.

Senior Sarah Mosca and freshman Jessica Miller swam the middle two legs of the 400-yard medley relay between Goldman and Wurtz. That foursome clocked in at 3:56.43.

Wurtz competed in the B final of the 50-yard freestyle while junior Melanie Newton snagged the last spot in the A final of the 500-yard event and finished in eighth place (5:03.81).
