ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – The Marist men’s 400-yard medley relay team capped the first night of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a new school record and vaulted Marist into fourth place with 102 points on March 3.

The Red Foxes sit just ahead of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Rider, which currently has 100 points. Pen (106) and Binghamton (115) are not too far ahead of Marist while host Navy is out in front with 173 points.

The Marist group of junior Robert McDowell, sophomore Edward Oser, senior Manuel Garcia and sophomore Miguel Madeira clocked in at 3:20.91, nearly two seconds faster than the old school record set in the 400-yard medley relay last year. Individually, Madeira and sophomore teammate Michael O’Donovan both raced to finishes of 4:32.36 in the 500-yard freestyle and tied for 11th place.

Marist’s diving duo also racked up team and individual points, as junior Peter Gallino scored a personal best 323.35 points on the 1-meter board. Freshman Raislan Aiken earned a bronze medal with 259.85 points. Marist has now had either a male or female diver take first place at each of the last five ECAC title meets.

Marist will be back in action at 10 a.m. tomorrow for the second of the three-day meet. Follow free live results or check the Meet Mobile app.
