BUFFALO, New York – Junior Georgia Goldman set a new record in the backstroke as a member of Marist’s second place 200-yard medley relay squad and helped the women’s swimming and diving team lock up 74 points on the first day of the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 8. Marist is currently atop the nine-team field by four points.  

Goldman led off the relay team with a time of 26.33 seconds in the backstroke leg and the four clocked in at a total time of 1:47.38 for second place. Senior Taylor Deubel, freshman Jessica Miller and senior Kelsey Forster swam the rest of the race.

The 800-yard freestyle relay squad of juniors Deirdre Connor, Melanie Newton, and Sara Nestrowitz and senior Meredith Wurtz took the top spot in 7:33.99.
