EDISON, New Jersey – Marist senior Kristen Traub has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Women's Cross Country Runner of the week the conference announced on Wednesday.
Traub led the way for the Red Foxes coming in first overall with a time of 17:50.6 in the 5K Marist Invitational this past weekend as the Red Foxes took on opponents from Siena, Iona, Fairfield, and Hofstra.
"Kristen had an outstanding summer of training and it was great to see where her fitness level was at for an early season meet," said head coach Chuck Williams. "To see so much improvement from last year and after a week of really intense training just shows that all of her hard work is paying off and that she is ready to have an outstanding senior year."
Traub's time was a new meet and course record and also the fastest time in a season opener in school history. This is the third consecutive year that Traub has finished in first place at the Marist Invitational.
The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, September 19th at the Rider Invitational in Pennington, N.J.
