Cross Country Opens Season With Senior Day at Vassar Farm

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Red Foxes will compete in their first of six regular season invites this upcoming fall on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Vassar Farm as the Red Foxes face off against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents Iona, Siena and Fairfield, as well as Hofstra.

After preseason practices at Minnewaska State Park Preserve in Ulster County, the Wallkill River Rail Trail in New Paltz, Millbrook Dirt Roads, Farm Lane Trail, the Vanderbilt Mansion, and the FDR Library Grounds in Hyde Park the Red Foxes season-opening event will take place at Vassar Farm for the second consecutive time. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., followed by the women's race at 9:45 a.m.

Following the conclusion of the women's race, a Senior Day ceremony will be held for the members of the cross country and track & field teams. The seniors scheduled to participate include Zach Berzal, Ryan Colabella, Hakim Cunningham, John Lee, Omar Perez, Charles Ropes, Mark Vuono, Richard Willi, Mariella Bilello, Catherine Ferreri, Annie Gould, Nicki Nesi, Elizabeth Peper, Kristen Traub, and Brianne Vess.

After the Red Foxes only home-event of the season the men and women's cross country teams head to Pennington, N.J. for the Rider Invitational on Saturday, September 19.
