HORSHAM, Pa. – For the third consecutive fall, the Marist men's and women's lacrosse teams will play in the Edward Taylor Coombs Fall Ball Shootout. The tournament will be held Oct. 18 and 19 at Hatboro-Horsham High School in Horsham, Pa.
The two-day tournament is held each fall in memory of former Marist men's lacrosse midfielder Eddie Coombs, a Hatboro-Horsham graduate who tragically passed away in August 2011 prior to the start of his sophomore year. Admission is $5 for fans ages five and up, with proceeds from the event benefitting the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation. Eddie's family set up the foundation to honor student-athletes who exemplify the same strong character as Eddie. Eddie was a well-respected member of the Marist Community by staff and students.
Over the two days, 20 teams from all three NCAA Divisions will play games, making it one of the largest fall lacrosse tournaments in the nation. Marist will play all of its contests Oct. 18, with the men's team facing 2013 Division II Champion LeMoyne at noon followed by a game against Merrimack at 2:15 p.m. The women's team will play three games, kicking off the tournament at 11 a.m. against Wagner before going up against Liberty at noon. The Red Foxes conclude the competition with a contest against LIU Brooklyn at 2 p.m.
