EDISON, N.J. -- Marist freshman Steven Morrison (Poughquag, N.Y.) was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Male Cross Country Runner of the Week on Wednesday. This is Morrison's first career award from the conference.
Morrison led the way for the Red Foxes by placing 30th overall at the Wolfie Invitational on Sept. 13, and helped Marist to a fourth-place finish over host Stony Brook. Morrison's time of 26:15.30 in the 8,100 meter race was better than any Marist runner last year at the Invitational.
This was Morrison's second collegiate race. In his first, he placed fifth overall and second among Marist runners at the Marist Invitational on Aug. 30 with a time of 19:20.11 in a 6K race.
Marist cross country will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Monmouth Invitational in Holmdel, N.J.
