Marist Baseball Heads To Virginia Tech For Two-Game Set

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist baseball team, which has a bye from Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play this weekend, will travel to Virginia Tech of the Atlantic Coast Conference for a two-game series.

The Red Foxes locked up a berth in the MAAC Baseball Championships with a three-game sweep at Saint Peter's last weekend. Following this weekend's series, Marist will return home for a three-game set against Rider to close out the regular season.

Marist (25-19-1 overall) has the reigning MAAC Player of the Week in sophomore outfielder Steve Laurino, and the reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week in freshman outfielder Matt Pagano. Virginia Tech (31-19) is led offensively by Andrew Rash, who leads the Hokies in average (.335), home runs (eight) and RBIs (51).

Saturday's game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., with Sunday's first pitch set for 1 p.m. Here are this weekend's pitching match-ups:

Saturday: Marist – RHP Brett Houseal (7-5, 3.60); Virginia Tech – LHP Joe Mantiply (4-0, 3.17)

Sunday: Marist – LHP Rich Vrana (4-1, 2.54); Virginia Tech – RHP Brad Markey (4-4, 5.58)
