POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Senior Chelsea Botta (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was chosen to the Capital One First Team Academic All-District as selected by CoSIDA. This is the second consecutive year that the senior tri-captain has earned this prestigious accolade that recognizes the top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Named to the All-MAAC First Team on Thursday for her successful regular season in which she's produced career-highs in goals (4) and points (11), Botta is also a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree. The senior defender is majoring in Business Administration/Finance.
Others on the All-District 1 team, include student-athletes from Ivy League, Big East, Atlantic 10 and America East schools. Botta is the lone MAAC representative in District 1.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 and have at least sophomore standing academically. By virtue of being named First Team Academic All-District, Botta is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
The Marist women's soccer team (14-6) will be in action in the MAAC Semifinals on Friday evening versus Iona. Opening kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
