EDISON, N.J. - The Marist men's and women's cross country programs swept this week's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Performer of the Week awards. Sophomore David Marthy (Latham, N.Y.) won the award on the men's side, while freshman Nicki Nesi (Pelham, N.Y.) won the women's award
This past Friday, the Red Foxes competed at the CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn., under wet and soggy conditions. Marthy paced the Marist men's contingent by placing 30th overall in a personal-best time of 16:20.61 on the 5,000-meter course. In the women's race, Nesi finished 41st overall with a personal-best time of 11:10.11 at 3,000 meters.
Marist will return to action at the 2012 MAAC Cross Country Championships, which will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., this Saturday. The men's race is scheduled to start at 8 a.m., followed by the women's race at 8:45 a.m.
