POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Water Polo Head Coach Ashleigh Huckins has announced that Candice Phillippe has joined the Red Foxes' staff as an assistant coach.

Phillippe, a native of West Vancouver, British Columbia, comes to Marist after finishing her playing career at Arizona State University as well as an eight-year stint with the Canadian National Team program.

In her four years as a Sun Devil, Phillippe helped her ASU team achieve a national ranking as high as fourth in her time in Tempe. Her 13 assists in her freshman year are the 10th most in ASU history for a rookie season.

As a member of the Canadian National Team, Phillippe participated in several international tournaments. She competed in the Youth Pan-Am Championships in Mexico City in 2005, where she won a gold medal and led the team in scoring with 10 goals in the tournament, and in Montreal in 2006, where she won a silver medal. She also competed in the Junior World Championships in Portugal in 2007 as well as the World University Games in Serbia in 2009 and China in 2011. Phillippe was named the 2002 British Columbia Water Polo Athlete Bantam Female of the Year.

She received her B.A. in Design Management from Arizona State in 2011.

"We are very excited about the addition of Candice to the coaching staff," Marist Head Coach Ashleigh Huckins said. "She brings with her an impressive playing portfolio in her collegiate years at ASU as well as with the Canadian team. She is a very motivated young coach and will bring enthusiasm to the role. I believe she will make an immediate impact on the program."
