Men's Soccer Voted Tenth In NSCAA/Continental Tire North Atlantic Regional Poll

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's soccer team was ranked tenth in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire North Atlantic Regional Rankings. This is the second time in 2012 that Marist has been ranked after breaking into the poll on Sept. 17.

The team posted a 1-0 record this past week as they defeated Adelphi on the road on Saturday afternoon. Faced with a 2-0 deficit and less than 30 minutes to play, Marist rattled off three unanswered goals to earn the 3-2 victory. Senior Stephan Brossard led the comeback with the initial goal in the 64th minute and the eventual game-winner in the 85th. Freshman Simon Laugsand scored the second goal for the Red Foxes as he beat the Adelphi goalkeeper in the 65th minute.

This season, Marist has played four non-conference teams who are ranked in their respective regional polls. UC Riverside is highest ranked team as they are fourth in the Far West poll. The Highlanders are closely followed by a North Carolina State squad, who is fifth in the South poll. The final two teams to be ranked are NJIT, who is sixth in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern, who is eighth in the South Atlantic. A fifth team, Radford is receiving votes in the South Atlantic poll.

The Red Foxes will kick off their conference schedule on Friday when they host Manhattan in a 7 p.m. contest at Tenney Stadium.
