FLUSHING MEADOW, N.Y. -Dalen Klassen (St. Louis, Mo.) and Joseph Dube (Livonia, Mich.) won their semifinal singles' matches to advance to the finals in their respective main draw flights at the USTA Invitational, played at the sight of the U.S. Open.

In Flight "E", Klassen won 6-3, 6-2 over his opponent from Yale to advance. Dube won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 in Flight "F" against his adversary from St. Johns. Dube, who last week won his flight at the Brown Invitational, will try to move to 7-0 this fall when he plays in the finals. Joris Van Eck (Ospel, The Netherlands) was also victorious on Saturday, winning in the consolation semifinals of Flight "E" over his Fairfield opponent, 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles, Klassen and Billy Bishop (Houston, Texas) advanced to the semifinals of Flight 3 with a semifinals win over a duo from Harvard, but fell in the final four to a pairing from Princeton. Van Eck and Lorenzo Rossi (Lugano, Switzerland) beat their opponents from Yale in Flight 2 in the consolation semifinals.  

"This is the first time that we have ever advance two players to the main draw finals at the U.S. Open Tournament," Head Coach Tim Smith said. These guys have worked very hard in the early fall and deserve to be where they are."

The singles' finals will be played on Sunday.
