Women's Tennis Team Honored By Intercollegiate Tennis Association For Academics

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced its team and individual award winners for academic achievement. The ITA has recognized the Marist women's tennis program with their ITA All-Academic Team award for the 2011-12 academic year. Individually, rising senior Joana Sun (Gales Ferry, Conn.) and rising sophomore Tessa Lewis (Lewiston, N.Y.) were honored with ITA Scholar Athlete awards. This is the second time that Sun has garnered this accolade as she was a recipient in 2011.

Marist earned the team award for maintaining a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA. To receive individual recognition, players were required to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA. Marist was the sole MAAC school to be honored by the ITA in both the team and individual categories for the second straight year.
