EDISON, N.J. - Senior Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.)
of the Marist women's tennis team was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference (MAAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday. McCarthy was
the top player for the Red Foxes in their conference matchup with Saint Peter's
on Saturday, February 25, as she collected two victories.
Her day opened with an 8-3 victory in number one doubles
action as she teamed with Kelsey Raynor to defeat the Peahens' duo of
Livingston and Williams. In number two singles action, McCarthy dropped just two
points in her straight set victory over Saint Peter's Adina Ungurean-Halagian.
The final score of her matchup was 6-2, 6-0.
This is McCarthy's third career weekly award, as she was
named MAAC Player of the Week on April 18, 2011 and April 20, 2010.
Marist will be back in action on Friday, March 2 against
Quinnipiac in a neutral site matchup hosted at West Point.
