POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist swimming and diving
teams will finish their 2011-2012 regular season on Saturday in the McCann
Natatorium at 1 p.m. The Red Foxes will
compete in a dual meet against the Pirates of Seton Hall University. Prior to
the dual meet, there will be a ceremony to honor the program's eight graduating
seniors: Leanna Brittis (Bluffton, S.C.), Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.),
Emily Gardner (Fairport, N.Y.), Allison Kreho (Shelton, Conn.), Amanda Letchko
(Newton, N.J.), Sondra McAdam (Redding, Conn.), Joe Papiro (Southbury, Conn.),
and Patrick Shea (Peabody, Mass).
Last Time Out- In their previous meet, the Marist
swim teams welcomed Boston College to the McCann Natatorium in a non-conference
dual meet.
The women's swimming and diving team put forth a dominating
performance defeating Boston College 173-122. In all 16 events in the meet, the
Red Foxes had someone take first place. The Red Foxes had six different
swimmers take two first place finishes in the meet, including senior Michelle
Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.), juniors Kate
Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) and Erica
Vitale (Sterling, Conn.), sophomore Maddie Arciello (Missoula, Mont.) and freshmen Greta Leberfinger (Chatham, N.J.) and Kimberly Tobias (San Jose, Calif.).
The men's team fell to a powerful Boston College team in a
final score of 173-126. The Red Foxes were led by a strong performance from
freshman Jason Ruddy (Lake Katrine, N.Y.). Ruddy placed first in all three
events that he had entered. Nick Spinella (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and Sean
Molloy (Slingerlands, N.Y.) also joined Ruddy with victories in the meet.
Recent History with Seton Hall University- the Red
Foxes and Pirates met last season in South Orange, N.J. for a dual meet ending
the 2010-2011 regular season. In the men's meet, Seton Hall defeated Marist
182.5 - 108.5. Despite the loss to the Big East counterpart, Brian Bolstad and
Joshua Sklanka gave a strong effort collecting two wins each.
In the women's meet, the Red Foxes entered their season
finale against the Pirates who had an 8-2 record. The Red Foxes were led by
four swimmers with two wins each: Bonnie Orr (Fresno, Calif.), Arciello,
Conard, and Kreho. With the combined eight wins from the swimmers and 10
overall, Marist defeated Seton Hall, 168-132.
