NEW YORK, N.Y. - Freshman Danielle Asaro (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) of the Marist women's indoor track & field team set a school record in the 60-meter dash at the Gotham Cup, held on Friday at the Armory. Asaro ran a time of 8.19 seconds, a mark .08 seconds better than a time initially run by Marissa Artiano in 2004 and then equaled by Asaro on Dec. 3, 2011 at the Yale Season Opener.
Freshman Michelle Gaye (Greenlawn, N.Y.), competing in the first track meet of her career, finished third in the seeded mile with a personal best time of 5:07.25.
Three more Red Foxes set personal bests: senior captain Briana Crowe (Bayville, N.J.) in the 1,000, junior Rachel Lichtenwalner (Mancugie, Pa.) in the 5,000 and sophomore Colleen Meenan (Uniondale, N.Y.) in the 500.
Marist will return to action in two weeks at the Metropolitan Championships in New York on Friday, Jan. 27, and the Terrier Invitational in Boston on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 27-28.
