POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Krystian
Witkowski (Rochester, N.Y.) and junior forward Stephan Brossard (Port
Washington, N.Y.) were recently selected to the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Atlantic Region Teams. Witkowski was
honored on the second team, while Brossard was a third team choice.
Witkowski collected his third consecutive All-Region
award, following a spot on the third team as a sophomore; he capped his junior
and senior seasons with second team honors. A three-time All-MAAC First Team
award winner, he started all 20 of Marist's games and compiled 10 points on
four goals and two assists.
Coming off a team-leading 20 point effort, Brossard
earned his second consecutive All-Region Third Team honor. A two-time All-MAAC
First Team member, the forward finished with team-highs of seven goals and six
assists. On a national level, the junior finished 80th amongst
Division 1 competitors with 20 points, as well as 80th with six
assists and 91st with seven goals. As a team, Marist was 75th
in the nation with 27 total goals.
Also of note amongst the final NCAA statistical rankings,
grad student Steve Skonieczny (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) finished 52nd in
Division 1 with 76 saves and backstopped a defense that posted the 39th-best
shutout percentage of 40 percent.
Fifth-year head coach Matt Viggiano led the Red Foxes to
an 8-7-5 record and a berth in the semifinals of the MAAC Tournament. Their
final record marks the third consecutive season in which the team has finished
at .500 or above.
