POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Three Marist softball players have been named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region. Senior outfielder Janna Korak was named to the First Team, while sophomore second baseman Brandi Coon and junior designated player Gabrielle Kelliher were named to the Second Team.

Korak hit .366 with 14 home runs, 54 runs batted in, and 19 doubles this season. She set the program's single-season record for RBIs, and also set a program record with 52 doubles in her career. A First Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and MAAC All-Academic Team selection, Korak led the Red Foxes in 12 statistical categories this season.

Coon hit .313 with one home run, 15 RBIs, and 34 runs scored this year. She was the MAAC's leading hitter in conference games with a .443 average. She also committed only four errors in 203 total chances for a fielding percentage of .980. Coon was named Second Team All-MAAC, First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, and to the MAAC All-Academic Team this season.

Kelliher hit .321 with eight home runs, 30 RBIs, and 10 doubles in 2017. Her .415 batting average ranked fifth in the MAAC in conference play. Kelliher was named Second Team All-MAAC, First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, and to the MAAC All-Academic Team this season. With 28 career home runs, she currently ranks tied for fourth place in program history.

The Marist softball team finished the 2017 season with records of 37-22 overall and 13-7 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. The 37 wins marked Marist's second-highest single-season win total in program history, and it was the Red Foxes seventh straight winning season under the leadership of head coach Joe Ausanio.
