DANBURY, Connecticut - Marist women' lacrosse senior Abigail Witczak earned a spot on the All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Second Team, it was announced May 16. Representatives from Division I women's lacrosse programs voted for the honor handed out by the regional conference.

Witczak was selected as the first ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year at the end of the regular season May 4. She was in the cage for every minute of the Red Foxes' 2017 campaign and she ended her career tied for first in program history with 71 games played. She will graduate as Marist's all-time leader in wins (40) and goals against average (10.11). Her 557 career saves are third among both Marist goalkeepers and active netminders in the nation.

In 2017 Witczak led the MAAC with 210 saves (11.05 per game) and a .498 save percentage.   

Marist competed in the MAAC Championship semifinals for the sixth straight season before falling to no. 2 Fairfield. The Red Foxes ended up with a 10-9 overall record and were the no. 3 seed in the postseason tournament after posting a 5-3 mark in MAAC play.
