EDISON, New Jersey – Redshirt junior Greg Kocinski was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is the first for Kocinski this season and the sixth for the program in 2017.
In five games this past week, Kocinski led the Red Foxes batting .450 (9-for-20) with a double, a home run, six runs scored, 10 RBI, a .650 slugging percentage, a .455 on base percentage and a 1.1262 OPS. In Game 1 of the series at Monmouth, he finished with a hit and a run scored that tied the game at 2-2 and in a non-conference matchup vs Stony Brook he finished with 2 hits and 2 RBI. In a game at Hartford, he had two hits, two runs, scored and three RBI, in a 5-4 win in Game 1 of Saturday’s DH he finished with a three run home run, one run scored and three RBI and in the series clinching win in Game 2 of the DH, he picked up three hits, a double, two runs scored and two RBI.
The Red Foxes currently stand at 17-14 (7-5 MAAC) and are tied for third place in the MAAC with Niagara. Marist travels to Binghamton today for a non-conference matchup with the Bearcats at 4 PM.
