MAAC Championship Recap
The Marist Women's Cross Country team won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship with a first place finish at the conference meet.  The meet occurred at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla. Graduate student Diane Matthews led Marist to the title by finishing third overall.

Matthews finished the six-kilometer course in 21:30.69, less than a minute behind overall winner Emily Chelanga of Iona and less than 12 seconds behind Loyola's Andrea Revengno. The Red Foxes placed three other runners in the top 10. Sophomore Allison Kline finished fifth, freshman Sarah Domermuth was sixth and freshman Caitlin Garrity took eighth.

Other scorers for Marist were junior Denise Tumulty, sophomore Rachel Watson and freshman Lindsay Rappleyea. Marist's team score of 40 easily outpaced Iona and defending champion Loyola. This is the first title for the Red Foxes since winning three straight from 1998-2000. The Marist women's cross country team concluded the 2004 season at the NCAA Northeast Regional Coaches Association race. Eight athletes ran personal-best times over the six-kilometer course at Van Cortlandt Park.
