MAAC Championship Recap
Marist men’s tennis won its second MAAC Championship at Concord Resort on Kiamesha Lake, New York. The Red Foxes won over teams from St. Peter’s, Fairfield, Manhattan, Loyola, and a few others. Ralph Van DePlasse was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Athlete after winning the Men’s Singles Individual Championship and the Men’s Doubles title with partner Mayer. The team finished with an overall record of 20-4 with a perfect 7-0 record in conference.

NCAA Championship Recap
After a successful campaign in the MAAC Championship, Marist fell 4-0 to the Baylor Bears in the opening round of the 2000 NCAA Tournament. The combination of Johann Jooste and Pawel Gajdzik defeated Marist’s Jason Geller and Eric Scheldt, 8-2. Baylor doubles partners Zoltan Papp and Johannes Michalsky beat the Red Fox pair of Patrick Dahnert and Juan Delgado, 8-0.

In singles action, Zoltan Papp earn another victory by defeating Jason Geller at number 4 singles 6-1, 6-0. Johannes Michalsky beat Danhert at number 5 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Mark Williams overtook Juan Delgado 6-0, 6-2. This was the second trip for the Red Foxes to the NCAA Tournament and it marked another very successful year for Coach Tim Smith.
