MAAC Championship Recap
The Marist football team won their last game on the "Old Leonidoff Field" with a 24-17 win over the Gaels. The win clinched a share of the MAAC Football League title for the Red Foxes, their second MAAC crown overall, with the last one coming in 1994. Senior quarterback Stephen McGrath completed 15 of 20 pass attempts in the contest for 203 yards and ran for 43 more in the win. Marist wrapped up the ‘06 campaign with a 3-1 record in the MAAC football league, and a share of the league crown.
The Marist football squad featured 13 players on the All-MAAC teams in 2006. Marist’s offensive linemen Dan Cooper, John Lyons, and Michael Walsh were all named to the first team for the offense, while Daniel Diaz and Bradley Rowe made the squad for the defense and punting positions. The second team was filled with Red Foxes featuring running back Frankie Farrington, Rowe as the placekicker, defensive end Matt Wolfman, linebackers Nick Andre and Dan Smith, along with defensive backs Huck Correia, Paul Rabito and Nick Salis.
