MAAC Championship Recap
The Marist men's crew team won their 11th consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship, as they earned 156 points, and narrowly defeated Jacksonville by 13. The team was rowing in their first season in the MAAC.
The team won the Novice Eight as well as the Lightweight Four and Pair races. In the Pair race, the Red Foxes took the top spot with a time of 7:29.9, four and a half seconds ahead of the boat from Loyola. The Red Foxes also finished second in four other races - the Varsity Eight, the Second Varsity Eight, the Varsity Four and the Junior Varsity Four.
A few weeks later in the New York State Collegiate Championships, the men's Novice Eight improved their time from qualifying and easily won their heat by a full 13 seconds. In the finals they defeated St. Lawrence by five seconds and had a race time of 6:22.70. The Red Foxes then went on to finish well in the ECAC Invitational Collegiate Regatta with a win from the Varsity Four boat, a third place from the Varsity Eight squad, and a fourth place from the Novice Eight group.
