Lance Ratchford joined the Marist baseball coaching staff in the spring of 2016.

Ratchford serves as assistant coach. He is responsible for assisting with recruiting, coaching the offense, outfielders, first base and coordinating the program's camps and clinics.

He spent the previous five seasons as an assistant coach at the State University of New York Oneonta. During his tenure, seven players were named All-SUNYAC Honors, 23 players were named to the All-SUNYAC All-Academic Team, six were named to the SUNYAC Commissioners List. Ratchford also coached the 2014 SUNYAC Pitcher of the Year and the 2012 All New York Region Performer.

Ratchford served as assistant coach for the Brewster Whitecaps of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.  In his first season, the Whitecaps led the league in hitting and he coached both the league’s MVP and the MLB Top Prospect Award Winner.  He also coached the 2015 Perfect Game Summer Baseball National Player of the Year along with the CCBL Reliever of the Year.  The Whitecaps finished with the league’s second best record and earned the No. 2 seed in the CCBL playoffs.

He has also spent three summers (2012-14) as an assistant coach with the Oneonta Outlaws of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.  In 2012, he was selected to coach in the Perfect Game Collegiate League All-Star game in Amsterdam, NY.  In 2013, the Outlaws won the NYCBL Championship.  In 2014, the Outlaws won the Divisional championship while finishing as the NYCBL runner-ups.

Ratchford played collegiately at both Division II Mansfield University and Division III Keystone College. While at Mansfield, he lettered three years while being a part of two teams that appeared in its conference tournament with one of the teams qualifying for the NCAA tournament.
Ratchford transferred to Keystone for his senior season and helped lead the Giants to its third straight Colonial State Athletic Conference championship and the NCAA Div. III World Series where the team finished third in the eight team championship. The Giants won the New York Regional tournament and he was named to the Regional All-Tournament Team.
Ratchford hit .339 in 42 games for the Giants in 2011.  He had 37 hits, scored 20 runs and drove in 13 runs, with a slugging percentage of .412 and an on-base percentage of .368.

During the summers of 2009-10,he also played for the Oriskany Blazers and Sherrill Silversmiths of the Eastern Collegiate Baseball League and the Oneonta Outlaws on the Major League Baseball affiliated New York Collegiate Baseball League. At the conclusion of both seasons, he was as an ECBL All-Star Team honorable mention.
