 MAAC Championship Recap
The baseball team advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament after defeating Canisius 13-9 in a winner-take-all game seven to win the 2009 MAAC Championship. Canisius jumped out with a 3-0 lead but the Red Foxes cut the deficit in the bottom of the second when McDonough singled to lead off and was driven home on an RBI single by designated hitter Kenny Anderson. A RBI double by McDonough in the third scored Curylo and cut Canisius' lead to 3-2. The Red Foxes rallied and by the fourth inning they took the lead for good, scoring six runs against four Canisius pitchers. With an 8-3 lead Marist coasted to the final score of 13-9.

Senior closer Jacob Wiley was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after earning a save and two wins in the tournament. Wiley was the winning pitcher in Marist's first-round win over Canisius and winners' bracket final against Manhattan. In the championship game victory over Canisius, Wiley came out of the bullpen to record the final four outs and earn his sixth save of the year. Four Red Foxes were named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team: Junior shortstop Richard Curylo, senior left fielder Brian McDonough, senior right fielder Kyle Meyer, and red-shirt sophomore catcher Bryce Nugent.
