BRONX, New York – The Marist men's cross country team placed 16th out of 41 teams at the 2016 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship held at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday. The result marks the second consecutive year the team finished 16th at the event, although the Red Foxes did have a slightly better point total with 461 points versus 2015 when they finished with 478.
"The men ran hard and tough today and they held strong in a fiercely competitive field” said Director of Cross Country and Track Pete Colaizzo. “I'm proud of their efforts."
Matt Baffuto continued his streak of finishing first on the team when he was Marist's top overall finisher in 53rd place with a time of 31:54.57. Spencer Johnson finished second and 96th overall with a time of 32:34.11, Saad Baig finished in 99th place with a time of 32:36.81, Dietrich Mosel finished in 111th with a time of 32:44.71 and Steven Rizzon placed 126th with a time of 32:58.30 to round out the top five.
Up next, the Red Foxes return to the Bronx for the IC4A Championship on Saturday, Nov. 19th.
