NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut – Junior Kim Schwartz placed eighth overall and led the Marist College women's cross country team to a third-place finish overall – second place among Division 1 teams – at the 13th annual Ted Owen Invitational, hosted by Central Connecticut State University at Stanley Quarter Park on Saturday morning. Schwartz powered to a time of 19:04.8 on the 5,000-meter course to lead a partial squad of Running Red Foxes at the meet.
Sophomore Roxanne Novo was the second Marist finisher, 13th overall in 19:25.0. Freshman Shea Bohan followed in 16th place at 19:29.4. Junior Brianne Vess (19:37.5, 19th place) and freshman Hannah Albert (19:50.1, 25th place) rounded out the scoring for the Red Foxes.
Marist finished second out of five Division I teams with 48 points, trailing only Rhode Island. Stonehill won the combined scoring with 35 points, tops out of nine teams in the meet.
The Red Foxes return to action on Friday at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.
