EDISON, N.J. - Sophomore Michelle Gaye (Greenlawn, N.Y.) of the Marist women's cross country team has been honored as Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Female Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Gaye ran the fastest 5K cross country time in school history at 17:40.46 on Saturday at the Ted Owen Invitational, hosted by Central Connecticut State. Marist won the women's team title for the second year in a row, and Gaye's performance earned her second place overall.
This is the second MAAC award for Gaye in her career. The first came on Sept. 26, 2011 after she won the Ted Owen Invitational in a time of 18:04.
Marist will return to action on Friday at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh.
