POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department released the schedule for the men's and women's cross country teams on Tuesday. The Red Foxes will start their season with a home meet at Bowdoin Park for the fifth straight year, and will compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
The fifth annual Marist Invitational will begin Marist's season on Saturday, Sept. 1. The Red Foxes will welcome MAAC foes Iona, Fairfield, and Saint Peter's to Poughkeepsie. This will be the first time Iona will appear at the meet. The Gaels have won 21 straight men's MAAC championships, and seven straight women's conference championships.
After a week off, the Red Foxes will return to action at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15. Marist will finish out September at the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State on Sept. 22, and the Paul Short Run at Lehigh on Friday, Sept. 28.
Marist will have the first week of October off before returning to action at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13. Six days later, the Red Foxes will compete at the CCSU Mini Meet.
This year's MAAC Championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, as they return to Florida for the first time since 2008. The men's team has finished second to Iona at the MAAC Championships each of the last seven years, and the women's team also earned a second-place finish last year.
The NCAA Regional Meet will take place on Friday, Nov. 9 at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn., which hosted the 2010 MAAC Championships. The IC4A (men's) and ECAC (women's) meets will be run on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
